Who Wants to be My Date?

    This activity consists of an oral production. Students will have to create a presentation about themselves or of a person they’ve created in a style of a dating agency movie. Their presentation have to last at least 2 minutes and they are going to be filmed in order to present it in front of the class. In their presentation students will have to talk about who they are (qualities, their interests & hobbies, what they are doing for living…). They will also have to talk about their expectations (the kind of man or woman they would like to meet, their future projects, what they would like to do with their flames…). Students will have to end their presentation with a special sentence that would sell them.

    What a great way of doing oral production with students. The best thing of this activity is that students don’t even notice that they were doing an oral production. I’ve always thought that creativity was one of the best ways to learn and to show others what you really know about something. Here students were asked to create a 2 minutes presentation about them or about a character (one they created) in a style of a dating presentation. They had the occasion of using modals, if clauses and to practice verb tenses. Filming them was, I think, the best way to present their work to the class and to evaluate them, because students were able to watch what they had done and to observe their way of speaking English (tone, fluency, pronunciation…). I think it was a great Valentine’s Day activity and I will certainly do it again, because students loved it and I was able to see how they were using English.
