TEAM PROJECT

             The teacher will divide the novel into parts. Each team will have to choose the part they will like to work on. They will have to become expert (to know everything about their part: characters, setting, themes, the symbols and the important events that happened in their part). The teacher is going to give them a list of all the possible projects they can do in order to teach students what happened in their part of the novel.

    What a fantastic project! I had a lot of fun, watching my students presenting their team project in front of the class. Once again, my students showed me how they really understood the novel. I’ve asked them to become expert of their part and I can say that they succeeded! I think giving them 12 choices of project, within 3 different categories (arts & culture, technologies & media and language) that could be done was a great thing, because every teams were different. I gave them many choices, because I believe in what we call “multiple intelligence”. Students were able to choose a project that was interesting and relevant for them, and I think this is why they have done an excellent job!

      If I have to do it all over again, I would change a little something. I would take out one choice of project, the poster. I’ve asked my students to do a 5 minutes presentation if they were doing a poster. They had to talk about the setting, the characters, the important events and the themes & symbols, and they had some problems doing it. They didn’t develop their ideas about the poster, their explanations were to simple. This is why I think I will change the way to explain the poster project. Next time, I will tell my students to reach a higher level in their explanation of the poster.
